Introduction

This desktop router reimagines the traditional external-antenna configuration through a more architectural and domestic presence — integrating performance, cooling, and signal strength into a singular sculptural form designed for contemporary interiors.

During my internship at Valeur Designers, I was fully involved in the development of this project, contributing across concept exploration and design development, while participating in internal reviews and collaborative decision-making. The core concept was led within the studio, and the process became a formative professional experience.

Key Takeaways

1. Design is about shaping a vision.
I learned that industrial design is ultimately about proposing a clear point of view—translating context and user needs into a coherent vision that guides every decision beyond aesthetics.

2. Every detail must be driven by a reason.
Through iterative reviews, I strengthened the habit of grounding each curve, edge, and proportion in intent—ensuring form is not decorative, but purposeful and defensible.

3. One clear story is stronger than many competing ideas.
I learned to commit to a single, readable design narrative. Avoiding “both-and” solutions helped keep the core visual logic sharp, with secondary elements supporting rather than distracting.

4. Start from the essence: clarify the ‘why’ early.
Before sketching, defining the value proposition proved essential. Understanding why the product exists keeps development focused and ensures the outcome stays aligned with real user and client needs.
